Uninstalling Almost Anything From Mac

http://technorect.blogspot.com/2015/04/uninstalling-almost-anything-from-mac.html

Latest Apple news reports that one of the astonishing facts about Mac is the fact that how convenient it is to uninstall programs. As far as Windows is concerned, you need to open "Programs and Features" to start the uninstall procedure. Followed by clicking the program and unpredictable wait for the program to be uninstalled and also not to forget about the web pages that would open up questioning you why you dared uninstalling such an amazing software?

According to the Apple news, it is convenient to uninstall anything you don't want on your pc. Let's look at that. Who doesn't like the easiest way? Everyone does. So let's begin with that.

For instance, you would like to uninstall VLC Player from your machine. The steps are following:

1. Go to folder named Applications and find the VLC icon.
2. Check if the program is closed or still running.
3. If running, close it or else you won't be able to uninstall it.
4. With your trackpad or mouse, drag the program from Applications folder to Trash folder.
5. You might be asked to enter the password to proceed with uninstallation process, depending on the permission settings you have set for yourself.
6. Once the program has been shifted to Trash, empty it. And wola ! Job done

Some of you might question about the registry. Well, the amazing fact we might tell you is the MACs don't possess registry. In the place of registries, preferences are stored for each program in the Preferences Folder. This folder is in the Library section, it can be found by looking for it in Finder window. Press cmd+shft+g next. This will open the "Go To Folder" and you can type / Library/ Preferences /.

Each program running on the machine has a property list also known as PList which is a text based file. It contains the preferences for the programs. There is no point moving the files as all of them take up some Kilobytes of memory. Unless you are known to what you want and what you wish to do then you can remove the Kernel extension. Otherwise, it is advised that you don't as these extensions are essential for the MAC operations. These are used by other programs and apps to add settings panel within the Operating System.

Kernel extensions reside in /System / Library / Extensions and .kext are their extension. You can drag and drop the files you don't think you would not need in future, first make the backup copy on desktop for not having regrets in the future.

These are simple tasks that Apple has created for the users and there are reasons why we all love OS X so much.
