Catadioptric Telescopes:
Telescopes using a combination of both mirrors and lenses are called catadioptrics. There are many different designs. Examples of these are the Schmidt-Cass grain and the Maksutov-Cassegrain. Usually a full aperture lens is used to correct aberrations in a compound reflecting telescope. The corrector lens also increases the performance of the instrument as air currents are eliminated. 7) Click the + sign next to it, then locate the folder called Grab Bee 2, Click the + sign next to it and then proceed to click on the folder called driver.

8) Once you have clicked onto that folder, click the word OK, and then click NEXT.

9) The computer will now search that location you specified for a DRIVER for the Grab Bee 2 device which as been installed.

10) Once the computer finds the driver, a window will pop up that says: Hardware Installation, Click the Continue Anyway button and proceed to the next step.

11) Click Finish, and now your device is installed and ready for the software installation. The Visec program can now be installed from the disk you have purchased. Once the software is installed your system is ready to operate.

The Invention of the Mobile Phone

Nowadays, the mobile phone is so important to us that it’s hard to think of life without it. However, they're a relatively new invention. This article explores the history of the mobile phone & questions what the future holds for it.

On 3 April 1973, Dr Martin Cooper, who was a Motorola employee, placed a call to rival Joel Engel, who was head of research at AT&T. Doctor Martin made the call while he was walking the streets of New York & did so through the first Motorola DynaTAC prototype in front of journalists.

The earliest mobile telephones were dubbed first generation telephones, often referred to as 1-G. These devices were the very first real mobile telephones, although they were then known as cellular mobile radiophones, & were based on analogue signalling. The analogue signal was the main difference between these first generation mobile telephones & their second generation cousins, which came out a few years later.

Second generation (2G) mobile phones were first released in the nineties. Unlike 1-G phones that were analogue, 2G phones use digital signalling to provide voice services & for text messaging & WAP internet access.

Some of the benefits of 2G phones are that they use lower radio signals, which require less battery power. This means that phones lasts a lot longer between charges, so batteries - & therefore the phones themselves - can be made littler. As well as this, 2G phones offer more privacy. Indeed, digital cellular calls are much harder to eavesdrop on than 1G phone calls.

The name 2.5G is used to refer to the phone technology that is post 2G, but not quite 3G. However, while the terms 2G & 3G are officially defined, the term 2.5G is not. In fact, this term was invented for marketing purposes only.

The earliest pre commercial 3G mobile phone network was launched in Japan in May 2001. Later, 3-G was released commercially in Japan on October 1 2001.

3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology, which succeeded 2G mobile phone technology. The birth of 3-G technologies enabled network operators such as orange to offer their users a bigger range of advanced services. This includes broadband internet, as well as high tech video calls.

What Microsoft is trying to achieve with Windows 10?

When it comes to mobile operating system, Apple's iOS and Google's Android are ruling the mobile devices quite comprehensively and they are not going to let any other penetrate the mobile operating system market.

No matter how much money and willpower, third party mobile operating system put in, they just can't break the duopoly of these two leading mobile operating systems.

Despite its shrinking market share, which further slipped to 3.0% from last year's 3.6%, according to Strategy Analytics' statistics, Microsoft Corporation is still planning to hit back this year with its upcoming Windows 10 for mobile devices.

Chris Weber, Microsoft's head of mobile device sales, revealed at Mobile World Congress, that Washington based technology giant Redmond has agreed to launch its premium flagship smartphone brand this year, which will be powered by upcoming Windows 10.

With the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft aims to lure application developer companies and indie mobile app developers to build apps for its platform. However, just like its shrinking mobile operating system market share, there are not many application development firms and indie developers willing to dedicate time and resources for phones that make up just a small fraction of the overall smartphone market.

However, Chris Weber is hopeful that more developers will come in as Windows 10 apps will have a technology that other mobile operating system does not offer. A universal app technology, which will enable application development firms and indie developers to build apps that work equally well on pocket-sized screens as well as widescreen monitors without any extra programming.

This will drastically increase app development firm's reach, because they will be able to instantly reach to about a billion Windows PC users, in addition to users of Windows Phone powered smartphones.

"It is only possible to meet these million or billion of users with Windows 10 universal app technology, which is not offered by any other ecosystems," said Chris Weber.

If we compare Microsoft's mobile operating system strategy to lure application development firms and indie developers, it is not that different from other operating systems like Mozilla's Firefox OS and Samsung's Tizen operating system. Samsung especially tried to sell lots and lots of low and mid-range smartphones in developing markets in hopes of constructing a healthy market share and luring mobile apps developer companies and indie developers with a lot of users.

To follow that lead, Microsoft unveiled two low-end smartphones, each of them is wrapped with one year free subscription to its products like Office 365, OneDrive and Skype.

According to Chris Weber, these services will differentiate Microsoft from low-end Chinese and Indian smartphones, which sacrifices usability to cut the cost.

Having said that, Chris Weber also acknowledged that Microsoft has still a long way to go and it still faces long odds. "Developing these ecosystems is not an easy game by any means," he said. "It requires gigantic investment and scale around apps and service, it's very difficult to build these ecosystems, whether it's Mozilla or Tizen, and it will be interesting to watch."

Fifteen years ago seeing a cellular phone was quite rare, and in today's technologically advanced world, just about everyone has a cellular phone. Adults, teenagers, and even children carry around portable models of the telephone.

In 1843, a skilled, analytical chemist named Michael Farady began exhaustive research to find a space that could conduct electricity. He told of his findings, and these advances of 19th century science and technology have had an incalculable effect on the development of today's cellular phone.

By the year of 1865 a dentist by the name of Dr. Mahlon Loomis became what is thought to be the first person who was able to communicate wirelessly through the atmosphere. Between 1866 and 1873 transmitted telegraphic messages 18 miles between the tops of the Cohocton and Beorse Deer Mountains in Virginia.

Dr. Mahlon Loomis developed a way of transmitting and receiving messages by using Earth's atmosphere as a conductor. He also launched kites enclosed with copper screens that were linked to the ground with copper wires. He was awarded a $50,000 research grant from Congress to continue his studies.

Then, in the year of 1973, a former general manager from the systems division of Motorola, Dr. Martin Cooper, became who is thought to be the inventor of the first portable handset. Dr. Cooper was also the first person to make a call using a portable cell phone.

In New York, he set up a base station with the first working prototype of a cell phone, the Motorola Dyna-Tac. He and Motorola took this technology to New York to show the public.

Later on, in 1977, the cell phone went public and public testing began. Chicago was the home for the first trials with 2,000 people. After Chicago, there were later trials in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, and then it spread to Japan in 1979.

Usual technologies changed in 1988 when the CTIA - Cellular Technology Industry Association - was formed to lay out realistic goals for cell phone providers. Research for new applications of development was included.

In 1991 the Telecommunications Industry Association set a new standard with the creation of the TDMA Interim Standard 54.

Cell phones have had quite a long journey. Although there was a great demand for cell phones, it took 37 years for them to become commercially available in the United States.

Wireless service was actually invented almost 50 years ago, so it's hard to believe that cell phones have only become popular over the past couple of decades. Currently, there are more than 60 million people who own cell phones.
